The Jaguars are getting ready for the 2024 season. Where do things stand right now?
It's been eight months since the 2023 season ended with the Jaguars missing the playoffs, and while we haven't been updating the website or social media much (more on that later) we have been busy! I've been working quite a bit on USA Floorball roles where I serve as Competition Manager, but in the background, the Jags' activity has been continuing.
The year began with a conversation with our Head Coach Joel Ekroos. Joel expressed a desire to do something different this summer with his holiday, so that put us on a search for a new head coach. Fortunately, we were able to quickly come to an agreement with Pekka Palomäki! Pekka is the head coach of Loviista Tor in Finland, and has conducted camps in Dallas-Fort Worth in the past. We are very pleased to have Coach Palomäki join us! We also want to thank Coach Ekroos for all his efforts on our behalf over the past two years. We could not have started the league without his help and guidance and he will always be a Jaguar.
Now we turn to the player signings for the 2024 season. We have seven players already under contract with discussions underway with six more. The schedule opens this year in Fort Worth, and we will host the first weekend at Nytex Sports Center from July 12-14. The exciting thing is that this year we will be in the main rink! This means better seating, suite availability, and a great sound system and experience for the fans to come out and enjoy. We can't wait to welcome you to Nytex this summer for the fastest game off the ice - floorball!
We also have added a new Digital Marketing coordinator - Landon VanPatten! Landon plays locally at North Texas Floorball and played last year for the Fresno Force. We really appreciate Fresno working with us and freeing Landon up to develop his digital and social media abilities! We're hoping to get a few more announcements out soon about other partnerships that we can share for the year.
